By Lucas · Harmo Auto · 20 October 2026

CPCA’s report published on 12 October records 917,000 passenger-car exports in September, including complete vehicles and CKD kits: up 73.7% year on year. New-energy vehicles accounted for 60.8%. This is passenger-car data, not an all-vehicle customs total.

What the export total does—and does not—tell a buyer

The numbers describe vehicles leaving China. They do not tell you which trim will sell in your city or how quickly a particular supplier can deliver. Keep the category and reporting period beside the figure when comparing China car export statistics. A passenger-car series that includes kits is not interchangeable with an all-vehicle customs total.

Choose stock around the customer

For a Chinese car importer, the useful questions come closer to home. Can customers charge where they live? Who will diagnose a fault? Which parts will you keep? Start with those answers before deciding between petrol, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric stock.

Make two quotations comparable

A low headline price tells you little if the quotations cover different work. Put the model year, trim, destination and trade term on one sheet. Ask each supplier to mark what is included. Harmo Auto uses EXW Nansha for its displayed reference prices; freight and other arrangements need a separate agreement. Export growth is useful background. The specification and the agreed work are what you are buying.
